Accessibility
We are excited to be hosting the Hybrid SIGCSE Technical Symposium. To ensure all attendees have a memorable experience, we want to make everyone aware of the accommodations, features, and services available while attending SIGCSE TS.
Emergency Evacuation:
If you require additional support or accommodation in the event of an emergency evacuation, please notify Security upon your arrival at the Centre at (416) 585-8360.
Physical Space.
The Accessibility - Metro Toronto Convention Centre page includes maps of each floor with all accessibility information. More information about the venue configuration for SIGCSE TS 2023 is on the venue map, and here are some highlights.
Wheelchair and Power Scooter Access
- The area is wheel chair accessible
- All washrooms in the convention centre are wheelchair accessible
- If you are presenting in a room with a raised stage, wheelchair-accessible ramps will be made available upon request. Contact email us at universaldesign@sigcse2023.org
Induction Loops
No induction loop areas are available in the convention centre.
Microphones
Microphones will be used in all sessions. All session chairs have been asked to use the microphone and ensure all speakers do as well. There are also microphones available for questions from the audience.
If you are in a session and participants aren’t using the microphones, then please help us all by requesting their use, even if you aren’t the one that requires it. In addition to this being needed for in-person participants, it is also needed in all hybrid rooms for those that are participating online.
Washrooms
There are washrooms on the 4th and 5th floors. There are gender-inclusive washrooms on the 6th, 7th, and 8th floors.
Smoking & Smoking-free Areas
The entire conference venue is a no-smoking area.
Quiet Space & Sensory Impact
Quiet Space:
A room has been reserved as a quiet room, away from the rest of the conference activities. The quiet room is located on the 8th floor in room 810. Please respect this space and don’t talk while using the room.
Sensory Impact:
Participants are asked not to use flash photography or to wear strong scents. This is to accommodate those who have high sensory sensitivity.
We will have a symposium photographer taking photographs during the symposium. Those sensitive to flash may want to sit towards the back or sides during plenary sessions to avoid photography taking place during the plenary sessions. Please email universaldesign@sigcse2023.org to arrange additional accommodations.
Service Animals
Guide dogs or other service animals are permitted on centre premises. However, there is no animal relief area within the building.
