How to navigate the platform
Whether you are participating in SIGCSE TS 2023 online or in person, you can access the TS’s agenda and program content through the online platform, Webex Events (formerly Socio). The platform has a mobile app for iOS and Android devices and is also available through a web browser.
An email invitation with information you need to register for the platform will be/has been sent to you. The first time you login, it will ask for your email address. You must use the email address that you used to register for SIGCSE TS 2023 and create a password.
Here is a list of some of the things you can do on the platform.
Edit your profile - To edit/update your profile, click on the avatar icon on the bottom of the screen and access the editing options. You may also add a profile picture and a 250-character summary about yourself. Other TS attendees will be able to see this information through the attendees page.
Adding sessions to your personal agenda - You can create a personal agenda by selecting the sessions you would like to attend. When you see an agenda item you’d like to add, click on the add button to add it to your personal agenda. On the mobile app, you can choose to get reminders for each session you add to your agenda.
Filter agenda items - Use the filter funnel symbol in the upper right to filter sessions. You can filter by track, pathway (i.e., K-12, Global, CC, MSI), and whether the session is online or hybrid.
Agenda item descriptions - To view more information about each session, you can click on the corresponding agenda item to open the descriptions page. There you will find links to the prerecorded video if that track has one and the DOI link. You can also add the agenda item to your personal calendars when you are on the description page. On top of the page, you will find a note icon that enables you to write notes for a session.
Joining Webex Online Hangout Rooms- You can join any available online hangout room and engage with other attendees via live audio, video, and typed chat. Please note that the chat log persists throughout the TS and can be downloaded post-event. Participants can also share their screens and send connection requests. Online hangout rooms can host up to 13 attendees per room and works across web and mobile devices (share screen unavailable on the mobile app). Just enable the camera and microphone and click join to get in.
Joining Zoom sessions - If the session is hosted on zoom, you can join the zoom room by navigating to the corresponding agenda item at the time of the session, and you will find a link to Zoom. To take full advantage of Zoom’s features, please update your Zoom client before the start of the session.
Pre-Recorded Videos - All pre-recorded videos with captions are available before the symposium to help you prepare. Each agenda item will also link to its corresponding video. Note: The URLs in the agenda items to the pre-recorded videos do not work on the Webex phone app. You can still view the videos on a phone through the Pre-Recorded Videos tab.
