Last day of the conference! Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Nichole Pinkard talking about “Opportunity Landscaping: Infrastructuring Healthy Learning Communities to Power Positive STEM Futures.”
Reminder we are starting with parallel program sessions at 8:30 am, next a coffee break, then is the closing keynote, and we will end together with the Table Topics Saturday lunch. SIGCSE TS 2023 closes out with afternoon workshops which require registration. You can still register for workshops by changing your Cvent registration (or go to the registration booths).
- Nifty Assignments will be at 8:30 in 718A. And it is hybrid!
- Please plan on being at the Closing Plenary at 10:30 in Exhibit Hall F. We will begin the session with our student research competitions awards and followed by Dr. Pinkhard’s talk. Announcements will happen at the conclusion of our keynote presentation.
- The Saturday Table Topic Discussions over lunch will be in Exhibit Hall F. If you opted for a box lunch, you can pick it up right outside the hall. If you did not, feel free to run out, grab a lunch, and come back to discuss. If you are participating online, head to the online hangout rooms.
- There are also workshops this afternoon starting at 1:00 pm: 8 in-person and 4 online workshops.
We would like to announce the new stories for SIGCSE Reads 2024. By popular vote, the novella The Lifecycle of Software Objects by Ted Chiang.
For our non-fiction option, a dive into what we can do individually to make our community more inclusive Sister Resisters: Mentoring Black Women on Campus by Janie Ward and Tracy Robinson-Wood And for a quicker read, the short story “Dolly” by Elizabeth Bear (available online)
Please enjoy the selections and join us for conversations about them in Portland in 2024!
I really appreciate your support of SIGCSE Reads! It’s always fun to hear when someone has read or is reading one of the suggested readings.
If you want to connect with one of the members of the hybrid committee, come to the Cabbagetown Online Hangout Room during any of the breaks!
If you see something that needs to be fixed, please fill out the issues notification form.
