Teaching Responsible Computing in Context: Models, Practices, and ToolsIn-Person & Online
Sat 18 Mar 2023 13:00 - 16:00 at Online A - Workshop 411
This 3-hour workshop at SIGCSE TS 2023 invites educators, researchers, and students interested in developing responsible computing lessons to explore some of the recent curriculum developments across different institutional contexts (e.g., universities, colleges, gr 6-12, international, informal, etc.). The goal of this workshop is to help to generate an understanding of the current models, practices, and resources in emerging computing ethics education and the need for high-quality instructional resources for both dedicated courses and embedded ethics settings. Participants will walk away with 1) a set of curricular models and resources to draw upon for their own course planning; 2) a network of educators working in this area to collaborate with and learn from; and 3) several responsible computing lessons drafted during the small group activity portion of the workshop. Participants will need to bring a laptop or other internet connected device to work on for the second half of the workshop, other materials will be provided by the organizers.
